Working airlocks. Automated doors. A launch sequence that runs itself.

Every one of those has to actually work. A door that opens on command is a condition. An airlock that will not open both sides at once is a rule your child has to write down before they can build it.

Space is the setting. Engineering is the lesson.

Getting an airlock to work means getting the logic right, and your child will know exactly why it failed the first time.

What your child builds

  • A starship with a cockpit, a hold and doors that open on command

  • A supply run the rest of the group has to complete

Where it leads

Survival → Logic → Challenges → Redstone → Modding. One topic, many levels — nobody repeats a year.

Your child starts at the level that matches what they can already do, not their age, and moves up when they are ready.

What school does not have time for

School teaches the concepts. We teach your child how to use them.

A classroom has thirty children and a syllabus to finish. We have eight and an afternoon. So your child builds the robot, breaks the code, fixes it, and explains what they did.

The five habits we are actually teaching

AI can write the code. It cannot decide what to build, or tell you when the answer is wrong. That is the part we teach.

  • Break it down. Split one big job into five small ones before touching the keyboard.
  • Spot the pattern. Find the bit that repeats, turn it into a loop.
  • Ignore the noise. Given a messy brief, decide what to keep and what to drop.
  • Write the steps. Write instructions so exact that a partner can follow them literally.
  • Check the machine. We hand them AI output with a mistake hidden in it. They have to find it.

How we handle AI. Your child can use AI after they have tried it themselves and can tell us what they tried. Anything AI helped with, they have to explain. Copy and paste with no explanation is not finished work.

Who teaches your child

Our instructors are college graduates with computer science backgrounds. They studied this. So when your child asks the question that is not in the lesson plan, they get a real answer.

When it runs

Minecraft runs Mondays and Thursdays. Pick whichever suits you — it is the same club either way. You do not need both.

Clubs run weekday afternoons between 3:00 and 7:00 pm, one hour a week. We run on school holidays too — a day off school is not a day off club. We are closed 24 December to 7 January.

Questions

Is this a different club from Minecraft?

No. It is the Minecraft Club, with a theme running through the term’s builds. Same club, same times, whichever theme your child picks.

Do we need to own Minecraft?

No. Accounts and machines are provided in the centre.

Is this just building, or is there real logic in it?

An airlock that opens both doors at once is a failed airlock. Getting it right is a condition and a sequence, which is the same thinking a programmer does.

What if they pick this and want the wizard theme instead?

They can move. It is the same club, so there is nothing to re-book.

Does my child need to be good at maths?

No. They need to be willing to try something, watch it fail, and work out why.
