Prototyping, building, and engineering require materials! The MCLS Lawrence Headquarters Branch is hosting a brilliant, eco-friendly event that acts as the ultimate maker-space treasure hunt. Teens and local creators are invited to drop off their unused art, STEM, and maker supplies early in the afternoon, and then return to swap them out for “new-to-you” materials for free. We absolutely love upcycling events like this because they encourage resourcefulness, sustainable engineering, and creative problem-solving using available physical assets!

Asset Libraries & Open Source: In game design and software development, engineers rely heavily on “Asset Libraries” (massive, shared repositories of free 3D models, textures, and code snippets). Swapping physical craft supplies is the real-world equivalent of utilizing an open-source digital library!
