Why we love it 💛 Sports and engineering make the ultimate team! The Princeton Public Library is hosting a phenomenal weekend presentation led by the local “Princeton Soccer Robotistry” team. Kids and teens will get to watch an incredible live showcase featuring fully autonomous, custom-built robots competing in a soccer match on a 6-by-8-foot field! We absolutely love robotics events like this because they show kids how programming isn’t just about staring at a screen—it’s about creating physical machines that can interact, move, and even play competitive games!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton 🌈⚙️ Building a robot that can play a sport requires the absolute highest level of mechanical engineering and coding logic!

• VEX Robotics & Engineering: To build a robot that can navigate a field and kick a ball, you have to understand physics, torque, and structural design. In our VEX Robotics Track, students take these foundational mechanical skills and use high-torque motors, gears, and structural metal to build automated, competition-ready machines just like the ones in this showcase!

• Autonomous Programming: The soccer robots aren’t being driven by a remote control; they are running completely on code! In our advanced programming belts, we teach kids how to write the actual Python and Java syntax required to automate complex hardware, using sensors and “If/Then” logic to help robots make split-second decisions on the field.
