Why we love it 💛 Engineering is a global language! To celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival—a traditional Chinese holiday honoring courage and loyalty—the SCLSNJ Montgomery Branch is hosting an incredible, hands-on maker event. Kids and their families will explore the history of the festival and then dive into a tactile craft project where they will build their very own dragon boat creations and scented sachets. We absolutely love cultural maker events because they introduce kids to historical engineering, challenging them to take 2D craft materials and fold, construct, and prototype them into a 3D structural boat!

• Structural Integrity: Before a boat can float, it needs a structurally sound hull. In our Robotics and Hardware Tracks, we teach kids the exact same principles of structural integrity using physical building materials, ensuring their robotic creations are balanced and sturdy.

• 3D Design & Rendering: Taking flat paper or cardboard and turning it into a 3D object requires intense spatial reasoning. We teach our students to apply that exact same spatial logic to digital environments, guiding them through the process of building massive 3D structures in Minecraft and Roblox.
