Why we love it 💛 Every great digital masterpiece starts with learning how to use the right tools! The Robbinsville Branch of the Mercer County Library System is hosting a wonderful, hands-on “Art Basics” morning specifically designed for the littlest creators. Toddlers and their caregivers will get to practice essential art skills using glue, scissors, and paint. We absolutely love messy, tactile events like this because developing early fine motor control and spatial awareness is the absolute foundation for all future engineering and design skills!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton 🌈⚙️ The hand-eye coordination a child builds by cutting along a dotted line or placing a sticker is exactly what they need to navigate a keyboard and mouse!

• Fine Motor Control: Before a child can type lines of code or click and drag a digital sprite, they need strong fine motor skills! In our STEAM Junior Program, we bridge the gap between physical and digital, starting kids with tactile logic puzzles and simple block coding that perfectly complements their growing dexterity.

• The “A” in STEAM: Learning how to mix paint or balance shapes on a page is the beginning of User Interface (UI) design! As our young students grow, we transition those early artistic instincts into our Digital Art and Media tracks, where they learn to use professional software to manipulate colors, design graphics, and build beautiful digital worlds.
