Why we love it πŸ’› Every great maker needs to learn how to use their tools! The Mercer County Library Robbinsville Branch is hosting an incredibly fun, hands-on “Art Basics” session designed specifically for early learners. Toddlers will get to safely practice their fine motor skills using physical tools like glue, scissors, and paint to complete weekly projects. We absolutely love messy, tactile events like this because they teach young kids how different tools manipulate materials in different ways to achieve a specific result!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Learning how physical scissors and paint work is the exact foundation of mastering a Digital Tool Palette!

  • User Interfaces (UI) & Tool Palettes: When a graphic designer or game developer opens their software, the first thing they see is a User Interface (UI) filled with digital toolsβ€”including a “Paint Bucket” icon and a “Cut/Scissors” icon! In our STEAM Junior and Digital Arts Tracks, we teach kids how to transition their physical art skills to the screen, helping them navigate these digital tool palettes to create amazing graphics.

  • Layering & Asset Creation: Gluing a painted cutout onto a piece of paper is exactly how digital layering works. We teach our students how to construct digital assets layer-by layer, showing them how to stack shapes, colors, and textures to build the custom characters and “Sprites” that populate their video games!

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Master the physical tools at the library, then bring that world-class creativity to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to use the digital ones!
