Why we love it πŸ’› It’s time to celebrate a century of storytelling! To honor National Library Week and the incredible 100th anniversary of A.A. Milne’s beloved classic, Winnie-the-Pooh, the Princeton Public Library is hosting a special “Take & Make” craft event. Kids can drop by the third floor to pick up a fantastic hands-on kit to build and decorate their very own classic “Hunny” pot at home! We absolutely love tactile craft events like this because they encourage creativity, fine motor skills, and independent, screen-free project building.

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Building a 3D craft by hand is the absolute first step toward understanding engineering and digital design!

  • Tactile Prototyping: Before a child can engineer a complex robot, they need to understand how materials fit together. Taking raw materials from a craft kit and assembling them into a 3D object requires spatial reasoning and logic! We use this exact same tactile learning approach in our STEAM Junior Program, utilizing physical snap-circuits and building blocks to ensure kids understand the physical world before they jump onto a keyboard.

  • Art Meets Tech: Decorating a physical “hunny” pot is just the offline version of digital design! If your child loves bringing their creative ideas to life, they belong in our Digital Media and Content Creator Tracks. We teach students how to take their artistic eye and use professional software to manipulate pixels, design 3D models, and create visually stunning digital art!

Join the funβ€”then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Pick up your project at the library, then bring that world-class creativity to iCode Princeton where we turn hands-on building into lifelong tech skills!
