Why we love it 💛 Artistic perspective is all about observing how elements interact in a physical space! The Mercer County Library Lawrence Branch is hosting an intimate “Outdoor Drawing Party” where participants can step outside, soak in some nature, and practice drawing new images each week using provided clipboards and colored pencils. We absolutely love community drawing sessions because translating a complex, three-dimensional landscape onto a flat sheet of paper requires a deep understanding of scale, focal points, and spatial boundaries!

• Raster Graphics & Asset Creation: Putting pencil to paper to create a drawing is the analog equivalent of rendering digital art! In our Digital Arts and Game Design Tracks, we teach students how to transition these artistic concepts to a computer screen. They learn how to use digital brushes, layers, and color theory to build stunning 2D raster graphics (pixel-based art) and custom character sprites for their video games.

• User Interface (UI) Spatial Layout: Deciding where to place your main subject on a canvas so it looks balanced is exactly how software engineers approach design. In our Web Development and Design Tracks, we teach students how to map out digital layouts using “wireframing.” They apply spatial logic to arrange text, buttons, and graphics on a web page or mobile app screen, ensuring the final digital product is both beautiful and intuitive to navigate.
