Why we love it 💛 Seeing is believing, until science gets involved! The Princeton Public Library is hosting an incredible after-school “eSTEAM” Club session focused entirely on the science of Optical Illusions. Led by highly motivated high school mentors from Princeton High School, kids in early elementary will learn how illusions work in both artwork and everyday life, and then get to create their very own mind-bending visual puzzles! We absolutely love this event because it perfectly blends the “A” (Art) and “S” (Science) in STEAM, showing kids how their brains process visual data in surprising ways!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton 🌈⚙️ The way our eyes process an optical illusion is exactly how a computer renders graphics and animations on a screen!

• Visual Data & UI Design: Understanding how the human eye interprets shapes, colors, and patterns is the absolute foundation of User Interface (UI) design. In our Content Creator and Digital Media tracks, we teach students how to use these exact visual principles to design stunning graphics and intuitive layouts that naturally guide a user’s eye across a screen.

• The Magic of Animation: Many classic optical illusions rely on tricking the brain into seeing motion where there is none. In our Game Development Track, kids learn the technical side of this “magic,” writing code and rendering frames to create their own fluid, lifelike digital animations!
