Why we love it π A carnival is just a giant playground of physical game mechanics! To celebrate the changing of the seasons, the SCLSNJ Montgomery Branch is transforming its Library Meeting Room into a full-blown Spring Carnival. Kids and families are invited to drop in and play a variety of hands-on, interactive games where fun and prizes await. We absolutely love events like this because every single ring toss, beanbag throw, and spinning wheel is a real-world lesson in physics, gravity, and game design!

Game Mechanics & Physics: Throwing a ball into a basket relies on real-world gravity, trajectory, and momentum. In our Game Design and Roblox Tracks, we teach kids how to code those exact same laws of physics into their software! They learn how to manipulate digital gravity and collision mechanics so objects in their games behave just like real carnival games.

Win/Loss Conditions: Every carnival game has a rule for winning. In software development, we call these “Conditional Statements” (If/Then logic). We teach our students how to program their own win/loss conditions, scoring systems, and timers to make their video games challenging and fun.
