Why we love it πŸ’› You are never too young to start learning the rules of game design! The Mercer County Library Hopewell Branch, in partnership with Titusville Tabletop Games, is hosting a fantastic, drop-in “Tabletop Tots” session. The event focuses entirely on cooperative games tailored specifically for preschoolers. We absolutely love tabletop events for early learners because playing a structured board game is one of the greatest ways to intuitively teach rule systems, turn-based pacing, and collaborative problem-solving!

  • Systems Design & Conditional Logic: Every board game operates on a strict set of rulesβ€”If you draw a blue card, Then you move to the blue square. In computer science, this is called “Conditional Logic”! In our STEAM Junior Tracks, we teach early learners how to apply this exact logic digitally. They learn how to use these “If/Then” commands to write the rulebooks for their own interactive stories and digital animations.

  • Cooperative Multiplayer Networking: When preschoolers play a cooperative game, they have to work together to beat the board, sharing resources and communicating their moves. In our Minecraft and Roblox Tracks, we teach kids how this collaboration works on a technical level! They learn how multiplayer games use server networks to sync multiple players together so everyone can collaborate in the same digital world at the exact same time.
