Why we love it πŸ’› Music is the earliest form of mathematical thinking! The MCLS Hightstown Branch is hosting a fantastic morning concert for toddlers and preschoolers featuring local musician Miss Kim. Little ones are invited to sing, dance, and groove along to classic and original children’s tunes. We absolutely love live music events for early learners because they naturally introduce young brains to the concepts of rhythm, sequencing, and auditory patterns in a highly engaging, physical way!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Recognizing musical patterns is the very first step toward algorithmic thinking!

  • Loops and Rhythm: In music, a chorus repeats over and over. In programming, we call this a “Loop”! When toddlers clap to a beat or sing a repeating chorus, they are naturally learning how repeating sequences work. We use this exact same logic in our STEAM Junior Track to teach our youngest students how to write block-code algorithms that repeat actions!

  • Sequential Logic: A song has to be played in the correct orderβ€”beginning, middle, and end. If you mix up the notes, the song sounds wrong! This teaches kids “Sequential Logic.” We teach our students that computers work the exact same way, requiring their instructions to be stacked in the perfect chronological sequence to function correctly.

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Sing and dance at the library, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to turn patterns into programs!
