Why we love it ๐Ÿ’› You don’t need heavy machinery to explore high-level engineeringโ€”sometimes all you need is a sheet of paper! The Mercer County Library Hopewell Branch is hosting an awesome “STEAM Explorers Workshop” led by teen Girl Scout, Sadhana. Kids will get hands-on experience exploring structural stability as they design and construct their own paper buildings. We absolutely love structural challenges because they teach kids how simple folds, geometry, and columns can support weight and resist gravity!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton ๐ŸŒˆโš™๏ธ Building a physical paper structure requires the exact same logical foundation as Software Architecture and 3D Asset Creation!

  • Software Architecture (Structural Stability): Just like a physical building needs a strong geometric foundation to stand tall, a computer program needs a strong backend foundation to prevent it from crashing! In our Python and Core Computer Science Tracks, we teach students how to architect their code logically. They learn how to build scalable, organized data structures that can handle large amounts of traffic without collapsing under the weight of information.

  • 3D Asset Creation & Spatial Geometry: Turning a flat piece of paper into a 3D building forces kids to think about spatial dimensions. In our Game Design and Digital Arts Tracks, we take this exact logic into the digital world! Students learn how to navigate the X, Y, and Z axes on a computer screen, using professional software to sculpt 3D objects, design intricate architectural layouts, and build out custom worlds for their virtual characters.

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿš€ Build your architectural models at the library, then bring that world-class design mindset to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to engineer the software!
