Why we love it 💛 When engineering meets environmental science, incredible things happen! In this awesome eSTEAM Club session, local Princeton High School students will mentor younger kids on the importance of birds in our local ecosystem, and then guide them through engineering their own DIY bird feeders using recycled materials. Programs like this are fantastic because they use physical “making” to teach environmental responsibility, all while giving young kids inspiring high school mentors to look up to!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton 🌈⚙️ Building a bird feeder out of recycled materials is a masterclass in structural engineering and prototyping! Here is how we take those physical building skills to the next level:

• 📐 From Recycled Crafts to CAD: Did your child love designing a strong, functional feeder? We teach students how to bring their physical designs to life using digital tools! In our 2D & 3D Design tracks, kids learn how to use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to prototype, model, and 3D-print their own custom structures.

• 🌍 Tech for Good: We teach our students that code can change the world. By progressing through our Python and Java Belts, older students learn the exact programming languages used by environmental scientists to track wildlife populations and analyze ecosystems.

• 🤝 Teen Mentorship: Just like the high school volunteers at the Spark Lab, our iCode instructors and tech mentors are passionate about guiding students step-by-step, providing the support they need to turn their big ideas into reality.
