Why we love it 💛 Science isn’t just about computers; it’s about understanding the natural world! The Princeton Public Library is hosting a phenomenal “eSTEAM Club” workshop inside their Spark Lab. Guided by local high school students from Princeton High School, early elementary kids will learn about the crucial role birds play in our environment. Then, they’ll roll up their sleeves and engineer their very own DIY bird feeders using recycled materials! We absolutely love eco-focused STEAM events because they teach kids how to use engineering and creative problem-solving to actively help the planet.

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton 🌈⚙️ Building a physical bird feeder out of recycled parts is the ultimate exercise in “Hacking” and Prototyping!

• The Maker Mindset: Turning a plastic bottle or an egg carton into a functioning bird feeder requires incredible creative vision. At iCode, we teach our students this exact “Maker Mindset”—the ability to look at raw materials, brainstorm a solution, and build a working prototype. Whether you are engineering a bird feeder or wiring a robotic chassis in our VEX Robotics Lab, the design process is exactly the same!

• Tech for Good: We want our students to know that their skills can change the world! Understanding local ecosystems is the first step toward environmental engineering. We encourage our students to bring this empathy back to our coding labs, where they can design apps, websites, and automated hardware that solve real-world problems and actively help their local communities.
