πŸ—£οΈ Syntax & Logic Flow: Coding Basics with mTiny Robots + iCode! πŸ€–πŸ’»

Event: Coding Basics with mTiny robots

When: Wednesday, June 3, 2026, 6:30 PM – 7:15 PM (Registration opens June 2!)

Where: Mercer County Library System – Lawrence Headquarters Branch (Lawrence Activity Room)

Event link: MCL Lawrence Events

Who it’s for: Kids ages 5–9 (with an adult caregiver)

Why we love it πŸ’› You don’t need a keyboard to learn how computers communicate! The Mercer County Library Lawrence Branch is hosting a fantastic, hands-on “Coding Basics” session where early learners can command an adorable mTiny robot to navigate around the room. We absolutely love introductory robotics events like this because they remove the intimidation of a glowing screen, allowing kids to physically hold coding cards and map out instructions in the real world.

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Giving a robot sequential instructions is the exact foundation of Logic Flow and Syntax!

  • Logic Flow: When a child tells the mTiny robot to move forward, then turn, then beep, they are creating a chain of logic. If they get the order wrong, the robot crashes! In our STEAM Junior and Scratch Tracks, we teach our youngest tech enthusiasts how to build this exact “Logic Flow,” helping them understand that computers only do exactly what you tell them to do, in the exact order you say it.

  • Coding Syntax (Grammar): Just like humans speak English or Spanish, computers speak their own languages (like Python or Java). The “rules” of those languages are called Syntax. By using specific coding cards to move the robot, kids are learning the fundamental grammar of computer science! As they progress through our iCode Belts, we transition them from these visual commands to typing actual, professional-grade code syntax.

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Command the robot at the library, then bring that world-class logic to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to write the code!
