π€ Algorithm Design & Computational Thinking: mTiny Robot Play + iCode! π§©π»

Event: mTiny Robot Play
When: Tuesday, May 26, 2026, 4:30 PM β 5:15 PM (Registration Required!)
Where: Mercer County Library System β Twin Rivers Branch (Meeting Room A)
Event link: MCL Twin Rivers Events
Who itβs for: Kids Ages 4β8 (with a caregiver)
Why we love it π You don’t need a screen to learn how to code! The MCL Twin Rivers Branch is hosting a fantastic, hands-on “mTiny Robot Play” session for early learners. Kids will get to free-play with these adorable, expressive robots, guiding them across the floor using simple commands. We absolutely love screen-free robotics events because they take abstract, invisible coding concepts and turn them into a tactile, highly engaging physical game that young kids can easily understand!
How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πβοΈ Sending an mTiny robot across a playmat is the exact foundation of Algorithm Design!
-
Algorithm Design: When a child figures out that they need to tell the robot to move forward twice and turn right once to reach a goal, they have just written an algorithm! An algorithm is simply a step-by-step set of instructions to solve a problem. In our STEAM Junior and Scratch Tracks, we teach kids how to design these exact sequential algorithms, slowly transitioning them from physical robots to block-based digital coding! *Computational Thinking: Before a child moves the robot, they have to visualize the path. In computer science, breaking down a big problem (like navigating a maze) into smaller, manageable steps (like individual movements) is called “Decomposition,” a core pillar of Computational Thinking. We teach this mindset to all our students so they can confidently tackle complex coding challenges without feeling overwhelmed.
Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode ππ Program the mTiny at the library, then bring that world-class logic to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to build your own!
