πŸ€– Engineering Automation: Intro to LEGO Robotics + iCode! βš™οΈπŸ’»

Event: Introduction to LEGO Robotics

When: Tuesday, May 19, 2026, 5:30 PM – 6:15 PM (Registration opens April 28)

Where: SCLSNJ Montgomery Branch – Storytime Room (100 Community Dr, Skillman, NJ)

Event link: SCLSNJ Montgomery Events

Who it’s for: Kids in Grades K–2

Why we love it πŸ’› Robots are taking over the library! Just up the road at the SCLSNJ Montgomery Branch, early elementary kids are invited to a fantastic introductory robotics session. Presented by local high school students and members of “RoboReach,” kids will get to watch a live demonstration of a LEGO Spike Prime robot, participate in hands-on activities, and learn how to get involved in local robotics programs. We absolutely love introductory, peer-led events like this because they show young kids exactly what is possible when you combine structural building with automated programming!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Building a robot is incredible, but programming the robot is where the real magic happens!

  • Hardware & Motor Automation: To make a LEGO Spike Prime robot move, you need to understand how motors and sensors interact with physical hardware. In our STEAM Junior and Robotics Tracks, we teach kids these exact mechanical engineering principles! They learn how to wire their robots, attach wheels, and structure the chassis to navigate physical obstacles.

  • Algorithmic Programming: A robot cannot think for itselfβ€”it only does exactly what the code tells it to do! We teach our students how to write the software that acts as the “brain” of the robot. From basic block-coding for our K-2 students to complex syntax for our older VEX Robotics teams, kids learn how to write the algorithms that automate their robots’ movements!

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Watch the robots at the library, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to build and program your own!
