Why we love it 💛 Building a great college or career resume is about more than just grades—it’s about community impact! The SCLSNJ Warren Township Branch is hosting a fantastic “Teen Volunteer Night” where local middle and high schoolers can connect with their peers and assist library staff with hands-on projects in preparation for upcoming summer programs. Not only is this a phenomenal way to earn a community service hour, but we absolutely love volunteer events like this because they get teens off their phones and working together collaboratively to solve real-world, tactile tasks!

• Project Management & Collaboration: In the professional tech world, nobody builds an app or a robot entirely by themselves. It requires a massive team working together! At iCode, we mirror this collaborative environment in our Advanced Programming and Robotics Tracks. We teach our teens “Agile” and “Scrum” methodologies, showing them how to delegate tasks, communicate effectively, and work as a cohesive unit—the exact same soft skills they will practice while volunteering!

• Tech for Good: We want our students to know that their skills can change the world! Participating in community service teaches teens empathy and civic responsibility. When they bring that empathy back to our coding labs, they aren’t just building video games; they are inspired to design apps, websites, and automated hardware that solve real problems and actively help their local communities.
