Why we love it 💛 The true test of mastering a skill is being able to teach it to someone else! The Mercer County Library System frequently hosts “Teen Tech Help” sessions, where tech-savvy middle and high schoolers volunteer to help adult patrons navigate their smartphones, tablets, and laptops. We absolutely love community tech-help events because they bridge the generational digital divide, allowing kids to step into leadership roles while using their everyday digital knowledge to make a real, positive impact on someone else’s day!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton 🌈⚙️ Explaining how an app works to a new user is the exact real-world application of User Experience (UX) Design and Empathy-Driven Development!

• UX Empathy: When a teen has to explain why a menu is hidden behind a “hamburger icon” (the three little lines), they are critically analyzing software design! In our Web Development and Design Tracks, we teach kids the importance of “UX Empathy.” They learn that the best software isn’t just powerful; it must be intuitive, accessible, and easy to use for people of all ages and technological backgrounds.

• Tech Literacy & Communication: Being great at tech isn’t just about writing code; it’s about communicating complex ideas simply. In our Core Computer Science Tracks, we prioritize presentation skills! After building their custom video games or websites, our students stand up and present their projects, learning how to clearly explain the underlying logic, architecture, and features of their software to a live audience.
