Why we love it π Spring is officially here, and the Youth Services Department at the Lawrence Library is celebrating in the best way possible! Little ones will get to tap into their creativity by decorating their very own collection bag, then use it to hunt for treat-filled eggs hidden all around the department. We absolutely love hands-on, interactive library events like this because they encourage early creativity, get kids moving, and turn a simple morning activity into a super fun problem-solving adventure!

Search Algorithms: When kids systematically scan the library shelves and tables to find hidden eggs, they are executing a physical “Search Algorithm.” In our STEAM Junior Program, we use physical robotics and logic puzzles to build these exact same spatial skills, eventually teaching kids how to write code that searches for specific digital data!

Creative Design: Decorating a bag before the hunt is the perfect introduction to the “A” in STEAM! At iCode, we teach kids that aesthetics matter. As they progress into our Digital Media and Game Design tracks, they learn how to take that same artistic instinct and use professional software to design stunning 2D artwork and beautiful user interfaces for their own games.
