Why we love it π Biology is all about adapting to your surroundings! The Princeton Public Library is hosting a fantastic, peer-led eSTEAM Club session in the Spark Lab. Guided by high school mentors from Princeton High School, early elementary students will dive into the science of survival. Kids will learn how animals use camouflage to blend into their habitats, and then they’ll use maker materials to create their own camouflaging creatures. We absolutely love this event because it teaches kids to closely analyze an environment and design a creation that perfectly interacts with it!

Environment Design & World Building: To make an animal blend in, you have to understand the background it lives against. In our Game Design and Minecraft Tracks, we teach kids how to become digital architects. They learn how to design lush, complex 3D environments, complete with custom terrains, foliage, and lighting that affect how characters move and hide.

Conditional Logic & Variables: Camouflage is nature’s version of an “If/Then” statement. In software, we teach our students how to program this exact adaptive logic: If the player is in the forest, Then change their color to green. Learning how to manipulate these digital variables allows our students to build smarter, more interactive video games!
