Who itβs for: Ages 2β5 (with an adult caregiver)
Why we love it π Every time a toddler touches something new, their brain gets a little bit smarter! The Mercer County Library Lawrence Branch is hosting a wonderful “Sensory Playtime” where early learners are encouraged to explore, play, and get messy. Kids will rotate through hands-on stations, using all five senses to examine different textures, weights, and materials. We absolutely love sensory exploration events because they are the earliest form of data collectionβkids are literally gathering physical evidence to figure out how the world around them works!
How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πβοΈ Gathering sensory information to learn about the environment is the exact foundation of Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition!
-
Machine Learning & AI Training: When a toddler feels a rough piece of sandpaper and learns that it feels different from a soft cotton ball, their brain is logging “training data.” In our Python and Data Science Tracks, we teach older students how this exact process works in Artificial Intelligence! They learn how software engineers feed massive amounts of data (like thousands of pictures of cats) into an AI system so the computer can eventually “learn” to recognize a cat on its own.
-
Pattern Recognition: Sorting and recognizing patterns is a crucial early learning skill. In our STEAM Junior Tracks, we teach early elementary students how to recognize these logical patterns digitally. Through visual block coding, kids learn how computers use simple rules to sort information, match shapes, and predictably execute commands in their custom-made video games.
Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode ππ Collect the sensory data at the library, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to train the technology!
