Why we love it π Engineering starts long before a child can write a line of code! The Mercer County Library Robbinsville Branch is hosting “Big Blocks for Little Kids,” a wonderful hands-on building session with Miss Cathy. Early learners are invited to use oversized blocks to stack, design, and create massive structures. We absolutely love block building events because they are the earliest introduction to spatial reasoning, cause-and-effect, and basic physics. When a child balances blocks to build a tower, they are learning how individual pieces connect to form a stable system!
How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πβοΈ Stacking physical building blocks is the exact conceptual foundation for Block-Based Programming and Software Architecture!
-
Block-Based Logic: Before kids type complex syntax, they learn to code using digital blocks! In our STEAM Junior Tracks, we teach early elementary students how to use visual, block-based programming languages like Scratch. Just like physical building blocks, kids snap these digital blocks together in a specific sequence to build a functional program, making characters move and react on screen.
-
Software Architecture: A sturdy tower needs a strong foundation, and the same goes for software. When young builders learn that a wider base keeps their tower from tipping, they are practicing structural logic. In our Game Design and Python Tracks, we teach older students how to apply this exact “modular” mindset to codeβbuilding complex video games and apps one carefully structured piece at a time so the final digital product runs flawlessly without crashing.
Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode ππ Build a towering masterpiece at the library, then bring that world-class logic to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to snap the code together!
