Why we love it 💛 Every master engineer starts by snapping blocks together! The SCLSNJ Manville Branch is hosting an awesome, hands-on LEGO® Club for elementary students. Kids are invited to bring their creativity and drop in for an afternoon of unstructured building and exciting physical challenges. We absolutely love LEGO free-build events because they teach kids how to experiment with structural integrity, balance, and physical architecture in a highly tactile, low-pressure environment!

Systems Thinking & Blocks: A physical tower uses individual blocks to build a complex, sturdy structure. In software engineering, this is exactly how object-oriented programming works! In our Python, Roblox, and Scratch Tracks, we teach students how to snap foundational “blocks” of code together to build massive, complex digital games.

Prototyping & Iteration: When a LEGO creation falls over, a young builder has to figure out why and try again. At iCode, we teach our students this exact same resilience! When a script of code breaks, we teach them how to “debug” the issue, adjust their strategy, and iterate until the program runs flawlessly.
