Why we love it π Art and engineering are colliding! Just a short drive away in Hamilton, the stunning 42-acre Grounds For Sculpture is hosting a “Family Open Studio” dedicated to Wearable Sculpture. Families are invited to rethink familiar materials, repurposing fashion items and upcycling everyday objects into trendy, functional, 3D sculptures you can actually wear! We absolutely love open-ended, maker-style events like this because they encourage unstructured experimentation, allowing kids to explore how different materials can be engineered to build something entirely new.

Hardware Prototyping: At iCode, we teach the “Maker Mindset.” When a child upcycles materials into a physical sculpture, they are rapidly prototyping an idea. We encourage our students to apply this exact same tactile methodology to our Robotics and Hardware Tracks, teaching them how to build, test, and adjust physical components until their machine works perfectly.

UI/UX Design: Wearable art has to be functional, meaning the creator has to think about the “User Experience” (UX). In our Web Development and Digital Arts Tracks, we teach kids how to apply this same empathetic design logic to technology, ensuring the software and apps they build are both beautiful and easy to use!
