Who it’s for: Kids & Families (All Ages)

Why we love it πŸ’› It is time to look to the skies! The beloved Terhune Orchards is hosting their soaring, annual “Kite Day” festival to officially welcome the beautiful spring weather. Families can bring their own kites from home or build and decorate their very own “guaranteed to fly” kite right on the farm! Kids can test their creations in a massive 10-acre open pasture, enjoy live country music, watch an incredible interactive Bubble Party show, and play classic barnyard games. We absolutely love outdoor maker events like this because they encourage kids to build something with their own hands and immediately test it in the real world!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Getting a kite to fly requires the exact same physical principles as programming an autonomous drone!

  • Aerodynamics and Physics: When a child angles their kite to catch the wind, they are actively experimenting with lift, drag, and tension! In our Drone Programming Track, students take these exact aerodynamic principles and apply them to technology. They learn how to use mathematical code to adjust propeller speeds and calculate angles to make a drone fly perfectly.

  • Prototyping and Testing: If a kite nose-dives into the grass, you don’t give upβ€”you adjust the string and try again! At iCode, we call this “Debugging.” We nurture this exact same resilience in our labs, teaching kids how to prototype their hardware, test it, and fix errors without the fear of making mistakes.

Join the funβ€”then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Take flight at the farm, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we turn early physics into lifelong tech skills!
