Why we love it πŸ’› There is incredible math happening inside a floating bubble! The Mercer County Library Robbinsville Branch is hosting an amazing “Bubble Show” filled with giant, floating soapy creations. We absolutely love bubble events because a bubble naturally forms a perfect sphereβ€”the most efficient shape in physics, as it minimizes surface area! Plus, watching a massive bubble suddenly pop and vanish into thin air is a brilliant, highly visual way to teach kids about the physical lifespan of an object.

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ The geometry and lifespan of a bubble perfectly mirror 3D Rendering and Digital Memory Management!

  • 3D Geometry & Polygons: A physical bubble uses surface tension to form a perfect sphere. In our Game Design and Digital Arts Tracks, we teach kids how computers attempt to recreate that shape! Students learn how 3D models are rendered using thousands of tiny, interconnected flat shapes called “polygons,” allowing them to build custom 3D assets for their video games.

  • Memory Management (Garbage Collection): What happens when a bubble pops? It disappears! In computer science, if a player pops 1,000 digital bubbles in a video game, those invisible objects will still clog up the computer’s memory and cause the game to crash. In our advanced Python Tracks, we teach students about “Garbage Collection”β€”writing code that automatically detects and deletes unused digital objects so their software runs lightning-fast.

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Watch the spheres float at the library, then bring that world-class logic to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to render them digitally!
