Why iCode Princeton 💛 this event We are obsessed with anything that gives kids the freedom to build, and nothing sparks the maker spirit quite like a massive pile of Legos! Trenton Free Public Library’s Lego Hour hands the floor over to kids (ages 6–12) to create anything they can dream up. Unstructured free-building is the ultimate playground for spatial reasoning, engineering, and out-of-the-box problem-solving. It is the exact same design-thinker energy we foster every day in our studios!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton 🌈⚙️

• The Foundation of Engineering: Every great structure starts with a single block. Figuring out how to make a Lego tower stand tall or a vehicle roll smoothly teaches the core fundamentals of structural engineering—skills our students use when building and programming VEX Robotics.

• 3D Design IRL (In Real Life): Legos are basically analog pixels! Kids who love snapping blocks together to create complex worlds are natural fits for our Game Design (Minecraft/Roblox) and 3D Design & Printing tracks, where they learn to build in a digital 3D space.

• Iterate and Innovate: Try, break, rebuild, repeat. Lego building teaches kids that if a design fails, you just snap the pieces back together and try a new angle. That resilience is the secret to great coding!
