Why iCode Princeton โค๏ธ this event ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Every great engineer starts out as a kid with glue, scissors, and a big imagination! The Ewing Library is hosting a fantastic, free “drop-in” craft morning for children ages 3 to 10. We love open-ended crafting events like this because they encourage unstructured creativity. Kids get to look at raw materials, imagine a final product, and figure out how to put it all together, which is the exact foundation of the maker mindset!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton ๐ŸŒˆโš™๏ธ Crafting with paper and markers is the perfect first step toward building with hardware and code. The spatial awareness and creativity kids use at the library are the exact same skills we build on in our iCode studios:

  • Tactile Learning to Tech Building: For our youngest learners, we bridge the gap between traditional crafts and technology in our STEAM Junior track. Once your child masters building with cardboard and glue, we level them up to building interactive projects with Snap Circuits and introductory block-coding!

  • From Paper Crafts to Prototyping: Making a physical craft requires planning and assembly. As kids grow, we take those same design principles and apply them to our 2D/3D Design & 3D Printing belts. They learn how to take an idea from their imagination, model it in CAD software, and print it into reality.

  • The “Drop-In” Maker Energy: The open, low-pressure environment of a drop-in craft session is exactly how our labs feel. We give kids the digital tools (from Roblox Studio to Python), provide expert guidance, and let their creativity drive the project!

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿš€ Spend a cozy Saturday morning crafting at the Ewing Library, then bring that creative spark right over to iCode Princeton so your child can learn how to build the tech of tomorrow!
