Why we love it 💛 You don’t need a screen to experience incredible game design! Just a short drive away at the SCLSNJ Hillsborough Branch, the library is hosting a dedicated “Game Night” specifically for adults. Attendees are invited to gather in Program Room B to play a fantastic mix of classic board games and modern tabletop favorites. We absolutely love unplugged gaming events like this because they highlight the social, collaborative, and highly strategic elements of gameplay, providing a perfect screen-free evening of community and fun!

• Systems Design & Rule Sets: Every board game operates on a strict set of rules—if a player rolls a certain number, a specific action occurs. This is the exact definition of conditional logic! In our Game Design and Python Tracks, we teach our students how to build these exact same rule sets (algorithms) into their code to dictate how a digital game functions and responds to user inputs.

• UI/UX (User Experience): A board game has to be visually intuitive so players know where to move their pieces without getting confused. At iCode, we teach our students to apply this exact same User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX) design to their software, ensuring the apps and games they build are highly engaging, balanced, and effortlessly fun to play!
