Who itβs for: Kids from Pre-K through High School (inclusive of a Challenger Division for kids with disabilities!)
Why we love it π A healthy body builds a healthy brain! Lawrence Township is hosting the incredible 5-week “Healthy Kids Running Series” this spring. Each Sunday afternoon, kids will participate in age-appropriate running events, from 50-yard dashes for preschoolers to 1-mile runs for middle schoolers (and even a 2-mile race for high schoolers!). We absolutely love getting kids away from screens and into active, structured environments because physical sports teach incredible focus, discipline, and cause-and-effect. It’s an amazing community event that encourages everyone to get out and get moving!
How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πβοΈ The cause-and-effect logic kids learn about their own bodies is the exact same logic they need to write a computer program!

Inputs and Outputs: When a child learns that eating healthy food and practicing (the input) gives them more endurance to run fast (the output), they are learning the absolute core rule of computer science! In our beginner coding tracks, kids learn how to program these exact same “If/Then” logic statements to make digital characters move and react.

Focus & Resilience: Building endurance takes repetition, practice, and the resilience to keep trying even when you’re tired. We foster that exact same growth mindset in our coding labs, teaching kids that making mistakes or hitting a wall is just a stepping stone to finding the right solution and crossing the finish line!
