Why we love it π Biology is the study of nature’s ultimate machines! The Princeton Public Library is hosting a fascinating life science session in their Spark Lab, designed and led by high school students at the Princeton International School of Mathematics and Science (PRISMS). Elementary students will dive into the microscopic world to explore what a cell is and discover the basic biological building blocks of all living things. We absolutely love life science events like this because they teach kids how to look at a complex, living organism and break it down into its smallest, functional components!
How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πβοΈ The structure of a biological cell perfectly mirrors Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)!
-
Systems Thinking: A human body is made up of trillions of independent cells working together in a massive system. In our advanced Python and Java Tracks, we teach older students how to build complex software systems using “Objects” and “Classes”βindependent blocks of code that work together just like cells in a body!
-
Traits & Variables: In biology, traits (like eye color) are passed down through DNA. In programming, we call this “Inheritance”! We teach our students how to write code where digital objects inherit traits and variables from their parent classes, saving time and making their software incredibly efficient.
Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode ππ Explore the building blocks of life at the library, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we teach you the building blocks of the digital world!
