Why we love it 💛 Coding should be an outlet for pure creativity! The Mercer County Library Hopewell Branch is hosting an awesome “Free Play” session with their adorable mTiny panda robots. During this interactive STEAM-based program, children will learn how to safely and easily command the robots to race, dance, sing, and more. We absolutely love “Free Play” events because removing strict project guidelines encourages kids to experiment, make mistakes, and discover the joy of open-ended technological exploration!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton 🌈⚙️ Commanding a robot to dance to a beat is the exact foundation of Algorithmic Choreography!

• Algorithmic Choreography: Making an mTiny robot dance requires a specific sequence of commands (move left, spin, move right). In our STEAM Junior and Scratch Tracks, we teach kids how to write these exact algorithms digitally! They learn how to chain blocks of code together to animate their own custom characters, effectively choreographing digital dance routines in their software.

• Hardware Outputs (Sound & Motion): When the robot sings or races across the floor, it is using “Hardware Outputs” (speakers and motors). In our Robotics Tracks, we teach kids how to program these physical actions from scratch. They learn how code acts as the “brain,” sending electrical signals to physical hardware components so their creations can move, flash, and make noise.
