Why we love it π You are never too young to start programming! The MCLS Hickory Corner Branch is hosting a fantastic hour of self-directed free play with their mTiny robots. Designed specifically for early childhood education, these incredibly cute robots teach young learners the fundamentals of coding without the need for a screen. We absolutely love tactile tech events for early learners because they allow kids to experiment, make mistakes, and problem-solve at their own pace in a supportive environment, all while a librarian is on standby to help troubleshoot!

Tactile Algorithms: When a child programs an mTiny robot to move across a map, they are writing a physical algorithm. In our STEAM Junior Track, we tap into that exact same natural curiosity, transitioning early learners from physical coding toys into tactile robotics and visual block-coding!

Sequencing & Logic: To get a robot to its destination, a young coder has to plan the steps in the exact right order. We teach our students how to apply this exact same sequential logic to digital environments, building a rock-solid foundation before they move on to text-based coding languages.
