Why iCode Princeton Loves This 🦾
Community events that bring technology to life are exactly what we’re all about! Hosted as part of the library’s 2026 Beyond the Page initiative, this workshop is led by student leaders from the Hopewell Valley CHS First Robotics Team (Spike 293). Kids ages 8 and up will get the chance to physically drive a robot, create their own electrical circuits, and see applied AI and machine learning in action! Bridging the gap between screen-time and real-world engineering through hands-on problem-solving is the exact mindset we build upon every day in our iCode studios.
How This Event Aligns with iCode Princeton ⚡🧠
If your child leaves the workshop buzzing with excitement about robots and artificial intelligence, we have the perfect next steps to keep that momentum going!
-
🤖 Robotics & Engineering (White Belt): Just like the high school robotics team uses engineering principles to compete, our White Belt students dive deep into the engineering design process using the VEX Robotics platform. They learn to design, build, and program real-world objects!
-
🧠 AI & Machine Learning (Foundation & Green Belts): The library workshop introduces AI for object detection. At iCode, we take that curiosity to the next level! Our Foundation Belt introduces AI-infused learning experiences where kids learn what artificial intelligence is and how large language models (LLMs) work. Older students in our Green Belt take it a step further by actually implementing computer vision techniques, including object detection, using deep learning models!
-
🔌 Electrical Circuits (Foundation Belt): Building circuits is a core foundation of hardware! In our Foundation Belt, students explore the basics of circuits, conductors, and insulators. They even use tools like Makey Makey to build their own working circuits and interactive art.
Keep the Innovation Going! 🚀
Today it’s a one-hour library workshop; tomorrow it’s designing custom robots, programming drones, and mastering Python with our trained tech mentors!
