Why we love it 💛 Nature is full of brilliant engineers! The New Jersey State Museum is hosting an amazing morning session for early learners, all about the structural marvels of bird nests. Through a story, a gallery visit, and hands-on activities, young kids will learn how birds use mud, twigs, and grass to weave incredibly strong, waterproof homes. We absolutely love this event because it takes a common backyard sight and uses it to teach young kids about material science, weaving, and structural integrity!

• Structural Engineering: When a bird overlaps twigs to create a stable base, it is practicing mechanical engineering! In our STEAM Junior and Robotics Programs, we harness this exact same concept, helping young kids transition from building blocks and natural materials to constructing sturdy metal chassis, balancing weight, and attaching high-torque motors!

• Tactile Logic: Exploring how different materials snap, bend, and weave together develops crucial fine motor skills and spatial awareness. We use tactile learning (like snap circuits and physical logic puzzles) to ensure young kids have a rock-solid understanding of the physical world before they ever look at a screen.
