Why we love it π Nature has some of the coolest built-in technology on the planet! The Princeton Public Library is hosting an awesome “eSTEAM Club” session right in their high-tech Spark Lab, entirely focused on the science of animal camouflage. Guided by the incredible high school mentors from Princeton High School’s eSTEAM team, young students will learn exactly how animals use camouflage to survive in the wild and then create their own camouflaged creature! We absolutely love biology-based STEM events like this because they show young kids that science isn’t just about robots and circuitsβitβs also about understanding the brilliant, adaptive designs found in nature!

Conditionals (If/Then Statements): Animal camouflage is a real-world example of conditional logic! IF an animal is in the snow, THEN its fur turns white. In our Python and Game Design Tracks, we teach kids how to write these exact “If/Then” statements into their code, allowing their digital characters to adapt and react to different environments in their games!

Biomimicry & Design: The best technology is often inspired by nature! We want our students to be observant innovators. By studying how animals blend in or stand out, kids learn the empathetic and functional design-thinking required to build better user interfaces (UI) and digital art in our Digital Arts and Web Development Labs.
