Why we love it π Sometimes the best engineering happens without an instruction manual! The SCLSNJ Bridgewater Branch is opening up their Youth Services Room for a relaxed, unstructured “Saturday Crafternoon.” Early learners and elementary kids are invited to drop in and use simple craft supplies to build, design, and create whatever their imagination comes up with. We absolutely love open-ended crafting events because they encourage young makers to experiment with tactile materials, develop fine motor skills, and practice crucial spatial reasoning!

Sandbox Prototyping: When a child crafts without instructions, they are learning how to set their own goals and figure out how to achieve them. In our Minecraft and Roblox Tracks, we provide students with massive “digital sandboxes.” We teach them how to harness that open-ended creativity, using coding logic and 3D modeling to build entire worlds entirely from scratch.

Tactile Engineering: Taking a piece of paper, cutting it, and gluing it into a 3D shape is the very first step of hardware engineering. In our STEAM Junior Track, we tap into that exact same hands-on energy, transitioning young learners from paper crafts into building real, functioning robotic prototypes!
