Why we love it πŸ’› Space is the ultimate frontier for science and math! The Princeton Public Library is hosting an interactive Astronomy Academy session in their Spark Lab dedicated entirely to the mysteries of Black Holes. Led by a graduate student in the Princeton University Department of Astrophysical Sciences, upper-elementary students will explore stellar collapse, phenomena like gravitational lensing, and supernovae. The session even features a hands-on “fabric of spacetime” demonstration! We absolutely love astronomy events because they push kids to think abstractly and visualize massive, cosmic-scale physics.

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Modern astrophysics relies entirely on computer simulations!

  • Physics & Gravity Engines: When a game developer builds a digital world, they have to program the gravity. In our Unreal Engine and Game Design Tracks, we teach kids how to manipulate digital physics engines, allowing them to code custom gravity, object mass, and collision logicβ€”the exact same variables that govern black holes!

  • Data Visualization: Scientists can’t “see” a black hole with a traditional telescope; they use massive networks of computers to process data and generate digital images of them. We teach our students how to take raw datasets and turn them into visual graphics in our Data Science and Python Tracks.

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Explore the cosmos at the library, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to program your own universe!
