Why we love it 💛 Science is hitting the road! The Somerset County Library System’s Montgomery Branch is bringing an incredible mobile, hands-on science lab right to its parking lot. “The Weather Pros” are hosting a high-energy, immersive experience complete with interactive weather mapping, real-time data collection, and simulations of extreme weather events. Kids will get to explore a fully equipped weather station, real meteorological instruments, and fascinating atmospheric displays like “tornadoes in a tube”! We absolutely love immersive events like this because they take complex Earth science and turn it into a full-sensory, interactive journey!

• Sensors and Data Collection: To predict the weather, meteorologists rely on advanced hardware sensors to measure temperature, pressure, and humidity. In our Hardware and Robotics Tracks, we teach kids how to use these exact types of sensors (like ultrasonic and environmental sensors) and program them to collect real-time data from their physical surroundings!

• Systems Thinking & Simulation: A thunderstorm doesn’t just happen; it is the result of multiple complex variables interacting perfectly. We teach our students this same “Systems Thinking.” When our teens build digital environments in our Game Design and Data Science Labs, they learn how to simulate real-world physics and handle massive data sets, mirroring the exact tools used by modern meteorologists!
