Why we love it πŸ’› There is no STEAM without Art! The SCLSNJ Bridgewater Branch is kicking off an incredibly fun community project: the Tiny Art Show. Elementary students are invited to drop in and pick up a tiny 4″x4″ canvas to create their own miniature masterpiece using any medium they like, paint, colored pencils, or markers! Kids can choose to stay and work on their art during the kickoff event or take the canvas home and return it later for the official library art show in May. We absolutely love events that focus heavily on the arts because they encourage students to express themselves visually, proving that creativity is meant to be shared!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Mastering visual art and color theory is the secret to building incredible software!

  • UI/UX Design: A piece of software can have perfect code, but if it looks terrible, no one will use it! Creating a tiny piece of art requires serious attention to detail, spacing, and color theory. In our Digital Arts and Game Design Labs, we teach our students these exact principles of visual communication, ensuring the “User Interfaces” (UI) of their games are vibrant, intuitive, and visually engaging.

  • Creative Expression: Coding is ultimately a tool for self-expression. We want our students to be artists as much as they are engineers. By practicing physical art forms, kids develop the creative “Maker Mindset” needed to design beautiful 3D worlds, animate digital characters, and build technology that stands out from the crowd!

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Express your creativity at the library, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we turn physical art into lifelong tech innovation!
