Why we love it π Great technology requires a great eye for design! The SCLSNJ Montgomery Branch is hosting an interactive “Art Academy” session exploring the legendary work of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Elementary students will study her iconic floral paintings and learn how she manipulated perspective and proportions before trying out the techniques themselves with provided supplies (dress for a mess!). We absolutely love visual arts events because they encourage kids to look incredibly closely at the world around them, observing the tiny details that most people miss!

Scale and Perspective: O’Keeffe was famous for painting massive, zoomed-in perspectives of small objects. In the digital world, this translates directly to 3D rendering and graphic design! In our Digital Arts Tracks, we teach students how to manipulate scale, framing, and camera angles to create visually striking digital art.

UI/UX Design: Software has to look good to be successful. We actively encourage our students to study traditional painting and color theory. Understanding how colors contrast and how shapes balance on a canvas allows our students to design beautiful, user-friendly interfaces (UI) for the apps and websites they code!
