Why we love it π Toys are the perfect way to learn about hard physics! The MCLS West Windsor Branch is hosting an incredible “Big STEAMers” session focused entirely on motion, magic, and Newton’s Laws. Elementary-aged kids will discover the surprising science hiding inside their favorite toys through hands-on experiments with spinning tops, bouncing balls, and zooming cars. We absolutely love physics-based maker events because they challenge kids to investigate why things start, stop, speed up, and change direction, all culminating in designing their own mini toy to take home!

Physics & Gravity: Bouncing balls and zooming cars rely on real-world gravity, momentum, and friction to move. In our Game Design and Roblox Tracks, we teach kids how to code those exact same laws of physics into their software! We show them how to manipulate digital gravity and collision mechanics so objects in their games move realistically.

Hardware & Robotics: Understanding why a toy speeds up or stops is the foundation of mechanical engineering. In our Robotics and Hardware Tracks, we teach students how to build physical mechanisms and program sensors to automatically control the motion, speed, and direction of the robots they create.
