Why we love it πŸ’› Science truly feels like magic when you start playing with light! The Hamilton Township Public Library is hosting an incredible, hands-on “STEMPower” workshop for young, curious minds. In this session, kids will learn the real-world science of optics by creating physical holograms and building their very own shoebox projectors powered by a smartphone! We absolutely love optics experiments because they teach kids how light refracts, reflects, and bends to trick our eyes into seeing 3D objects in mid-air.

  • Augmented Reality (AR): When a child builds a shoebox projector to display a hologram, they are manipulating light to project an image into the real world. In the tech industry, this is the exact hardware logic behind Augmented Reality glasses! In our Game Design and Digital Arts Tracks, we teach kids how to design 3D digital models that can be projected into AR environments.

  • Hardware & Optics Engineering: A smartphone screen combined with a lens creates a projector. In our Hardware and Robotics Tracks, we teach students how everyday tech components function. Understanding how screens, light, and physical materials interact is the first step toward designing the next generation of smart devices and VR headsets!
