Why we love it π Did you know your lunch can create electricity? The Lawrence Headquarters Branch is hosting a fantastic “STEM Squad” weekend event, led by a talented local Lawrence High School student! Young kids and their caregivers will get to watch an amazing demonstration of a real-life potato battery in action, learning the simple principles of how electricity flows. We absolutely love this event because it takes something completely familiarβa potatoβand uses it to spark a child’s early curiosity about the magic of science and electrical power!
How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πβοΈ Understanding how electricity moves from a source to a lightbulb is the first step toward building complex technology!
-
Hardware & Circuits: Before a child can build a motorized robot or wire a motherboard, they need to understand the basics of circuits and currents! In our STEAM Junior Program, we take this same curiosity and put it directly into kids’ hands using tactile snap circuits and introductory hardware kits, ensuring they understand how power flows through the digital world.
-
The “Maker” Mindset: A potato battery is the ultimate “Maker” project! It teaches kids to look at everyday objects differently and ask, “What else can this do?” At iCode, we nurture this exact same innovative thinking, encouraging our young students to tinker, experiment, and realize that technology isn’t just magicβit’s something they can build themselves!
Join the funβthen keep the momentum going at iCode ππ Watch a potato power up the room at the library, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we turn early science experiments into lifelong tech skills!
