Who it’s for: Recommended for ages 2–5 (with a caregiver)

Why we love it πŸ’› Exploring the hidden systems inside our own bodies is where young scientists find their spark! The Mercer County Library Lawrence Branch is hosting a wonderfully tactile “Sensory Science: Teeth” workshop, proudly sponsored by the Friends of the Lawrence Library. Little explorers will rotate through hands-on art stations and biology-focused experiments designed to make anatomy accessible. We absolutely love sensory science events because looking at structural shapes, textures, and biological functions up close introduces children to the fundamentals of field observation and database logging!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ Classifying structural anatomy and learning about proactive system maintenance matches the exact logic behind Object Properties and Data Validation Scripting!

  • Object Classifications (Anatomy Properties): Teeth aren’t all the sameβ€”they have unique shapes because they have unique programming. Incisors slice, while molars grind! In our STEAM Junior and Scratch Tracks, we translate this precise classification model into software development. Young learners discover how to assign specific “Properties” and custom behaviors to digital assets, ensuring that different objects in their code respond uniquely to system commands.

  • Data Validation & Filtering Systems: Just like we brush our teeth daily to build a defensive filter against harmful bacteria, software engineers write rigorous code blocks to filter out harmful data scripts! In our Core Computer Science and Python Tracks, we teach students the digital equivalent of hygieneβ€”Data Validation. They learn how to write security scripts that intercept inputs, sanitize database entries, and safeguard computer programs against outside bugs.

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Sink your teeth into anatomy experiments at the library, then bring that world-class logic to iCode Princeton where we teach you how to engineer the software!
