Why we love it πŸ’› Cells are the building blocks of life! The Princeton Public Library is hosting a biology-focused “STEM Circle” where upper-elementary students will explore what a cell is and the basic building blocks of living things. What makes this event even more special is that these collaborative monthly sessions are designed and led entirely by high school students at the Princeton International School of Mathematics and Science (PRISMS). We absolutely love youth-led mentorship events like this because seeing older peers teach STEM concepts is incredibly inspiring for younger makers!

How this event aligns with iCode Princeton πŸŒˆβš™οΈ DNA is just nature’s version of computer code!

  • Systems and Building Blocks: A cell uses proteins and DNA instructions to build complex organisms. In software engineering, this is exactly how object-oriented programming works! In our Python and JavaScript Tracks, we teach students how to write foundational “blocks” of code that communicate with each other to build massive, complex digital systems.

  • Variables & Traits: If you change a biological trait, the final result changes. In coding, we call these “Variables”! We teach our students how to adjust digital variables to change the speed, size, color, or behavior of the characters in the software they design.

Join the fun, then keep the momentum going at iCode πŸŽ’πŸš€ Study the building blocks of life at the library, then bring that world-class curiosity to iCode Princeton where we teach you the building blocks of code!
