Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. A video player beside an editing timeline and a microphone. Almost every student who joins this club already watches a great deal of YouTube. Rather few have any idea how much work sits behind the four minutes they enjoyed. This club is where that becomes obvious, usually in week two, when they try to cut their own footage down to something a stranger would sit through. The channel is the excuse. What students are actually…

Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. A web page laid out in a browser beside the HTML and CSS behind it. There is a particular moment in this club that never gets old: a student sends a parent a link, the parent opens it on their own phone, and the thing the student made is simply there, on the internet, working. Nothing else we teach produces quite that reaction.…

Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. A Roblox world beside a window of Lua code. Almost every student arrives having played Roblox. Rather few arrive knowing it is built on Lua, a text programming language used well beyond games. This club moves students across that line: from consuming games to building and publishing them. Publishing matters here. A game other people can actually play is a very different standard from a game that works on your own screen, and students feel…

Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. A VEX-style robot following a wall under sensor control. Our widest club by age, running from six-year-olds snapping LEGO mechanisms together to teenagers writing autonomous routines for VEX V5. The appeal of robotics as a teaching subject is that it is honest. Code that is nearly right produces a robot that nearly works, in front of everybody, and there is no arguing with it. Students learn to…

Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. Colored code blocks snapping together into a Scratch script. Scratch is where most of our youngest students start. Blocks snap together instead of being typed, which means a five-year-old can build something that genuinely works without fighting punctuation at the same time. What they are learning underneath is not simplified: sequence, loops, conditions, events and variables are the same ideas they will meet later in Python, just wearing a friendlier costume. Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. A student pitching on stage to a panel asking hard questions. The least technical club we run and, for some students, the most transformative. Students develop an idea, work out who it is for, build a brand around it, and then stand up and pitch it to a panel. Public speaking is a skill that compounds for decades, and very few children get structured practice at it. This club…

Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. A 3D wireframe model beside a printer building it layer by layer. This is the club where the A in STEAM does real work. Students design digitally and then print physically, which introduces a set of constraints no screen ever imposes: overhangs, tolerances, wall thickness, and the fact that gravity exists. The moment a student picks up the first part they designed and finds it does not…

clubs-faq

Club questions, answered straight The ones parents in Wellesley actually ask. Tap any question to open the answer. Does my child need experience to join a club? No. Every club has an Introduction or Foundation track built for complete beginners. Students enter at whatever level matches their experience rather than their age, and we place them after a free evaluation rather than guessing from a form. Isn’t this just playing video games? It is a fair question and worth answering properly. We use the games children already care about as a doorway into real skills. In Minecraft they are building Redstone logic circuits, which is genuinely circuit logic. In Roblox they are writing Lua, a real programming language. Every session pairs a concept with a hands-on build, and students have to explain what they made and why it works. What have your students won awards in?Scratch and Python programming, and robotics competitions including FIRST LEGO League and VEX — Judges Award wins and state finals. We have also been a Boston Parents Family Favorite every year from 2020 to 2026. Can my child move between clubs?Yes, and many do. A Minecraft builder often moves into Roblox. Scratch graduates step up into Python.…

Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. A blocky Minecraft build wired into a Redstone logic circuit. Minecraft is the club parents are most skeptical about, and the one that most reliably changes their mind. Redstone is a genuine logic system: gates, delays, latches and clocks. A student who builds a working automatic door has built a circuit, whether or not anyone used that word. Beyond Redstone, students work on collaborative builds with constraints, which turns out to be…

One map, every path forward Each club runs from foundation to mastery. Students can climb a single column or move across them — and several paths lead all the way to competition and real programming. Students enter at whatever level matches their experience, not their age. The ages below are a guide to where most students sit, not a rule. Tell us when you can come and we will let you know when a slot opens. A terminal running Python code beside a stylised snake. Python is the bridge from blocks to the kind of programming people are actually paid to do. It is also, deliberately, the least forgiving club we run: a misplaced colon stops everything, and learning to read an error message calmly is part of the curriculum. Students build things that do something — tools, simulations, data projects, games — rather than working through exercises. Advanced students…
